I'm hoping it was mainly a fluke as the hotel seemed very busy. ![]() All of these things were minor but added up over our 3 day/2 night stay. Almost two hours later, housekeeping finally arrived and cleaned up the room, but when they took the trash out, they forgot to put the trash can back, so we went without a trash can for our final day (I didn't feel like hassling with getting another one after how long it had taken housekeeping with the other things). I called the front desk to request a refresh and was promised that they would send someone up. So when I came back later in the afternoon, I was disappointed to find the room exactly the same. The second day we were there, I saw housekeeping on our floor and just assumed that they would refresh our room (make the bed, take out the trash). The bed itself was pretty comfortable and the tv had a ton of channels, so both of those things helped outweigh the other things. I know that this happens from time to time at hotels and that it's not cost effective to replace everything with stains, but I just expected a little more from a nicer hotel. The room was nice for the most part, but the floors were pretty dusty (though I did like the "hardwood" look), one of our coffee mugs had a lipstick stain on it, and the comforter had a few reddish, brown stains on it. It wasn't a big deal, just a little annoying. Stefanie at the front desk was very nice and friendly, but it took multiple calls to her and from her to housekeeping to finally get the refrigerator to our room. Before we arrived, we requested a mini refrigerator and were told to request it again at check-in, which we did. That being said, there were definitely some things that I felt were lacking and was a little disappointed in. The location was great, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, the hotel itself was modern and nice and had quite a few eco-friendly features, which I liked. We were both looking forward to staying at this hotel because it was so highly rated and the location in downtown Athens looked great. My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Indigo in Athens while he was in town for a work conference nearby. I would definitely come back, even without the spectacular upgrade. Located an easy walk to the restaurants of downtown Athens, as well as the university. The lobby is really nice, with lots of local art and a spacious feel, places to get snacks or a drink or a meal, and always super friendly and helpful people on duty. But for people who don't get this kind of an upgrade, the hotel is still great. But then we arrived and discovered that the upgrade was actually to the Presidential Suite!!! with a pool table!!!! and a bathroom the size of my freshman college dorm-a tub that could accommodate two or three people, a shower that was even larger-pretty amazing. So I was inclined to feel positive toward them. My great experience with the Indigo began before I even arrived, calling and emailing the hotel with questions (many of the rooms don't have bathtubs, and I wanted a tub-could I do that while also using my IHG points for a room?) which were resolved quickly and cheerfully (sure, book the room and we will upgrade you to a room with a tub, problem solved). ![]()
